OVERVIEW

Cache County is looking for an Animal Control Officer to join our Sheriff's office team. The Animal Control Officer performs entry-level animal ordinance enforcement duties. The Animal Control Officer is a full-time benefitted position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

An Animal Control Officer's duties include patrolling streets for stray domestic or wild animals, capturing and confining stray animals, and responding to public complaints regarding animals. The Animal Control Officer issues citations and impounds animals, issues licenses for animals, Picks up injured animals, investigates theft or slaughter cases, and transports animals to the shelter.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Animal Control Officer will have a High School Diploma AND have experience in a field closely related to these duties preferred OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge: The Animal Control Officer will need a Working knowledge of humane apprehension and care of animals, physical and behavioral characteristics of animals, humane and safe procedures for animal euthanasia, and the ability to accurately enter data into a computer and write/print legibly.

Skills and Abilities: The Animal Control Officer skills and abilities include the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination skills, effective communication, and the ability to negotiate with emotionally upset or hostile animal owners or complainants. Ability to operate animal control vehicles and all related equipment, prioritize, organize, and carry out work assignments, read, interpret, and implement animal control ordinances, and learn and implement County and contract-city ordinances and laws.
